Williston E-waste Disposal Set for June 7th
The annual Erase the E-waste event will be held on June 7 from 8:00 am to 6:00 pm at 5226 134th Ave NW, Chamley Pipe & Salvage (just north of the landfill on 85B).
ND E-waste will collect and recycle all varieties of electronics. Cell phones, computer terminals, televisions, printers, copiers, and specialized electronic equipment are included. CRT televisions and monitors, as well as flat-screen televisions and monitors, incur a modest recycling fee based on their size.
Over the past couple of years, ND E-waste has made a donation to Bras for a Cause for each laptop and computer tower that was recycled. This has averaged roughly $1500 per occasion. At their annual Bra Auction, Chamley Pipe & Salvage duplicates the amount and donates it to Bras for a Cause. E-cycling is a great method to raise money for a local charity.
Many different metals and chemicals are used to manufacture LCD screens, computer chips, and other materials used in so many electronic devices. This is one of the primary reasons why recycling electronics is so essential. When e-waste is illegally disposed of, many of these toxic materials can leach into the environment and cause long-term problems. Lead is one of the most egregious offenders and can cause neurological damage in humans exposed to elevated environmental concentrations. By properly disposing of electronic devices through recycling, we can recover valuable materials, minimize hazardous substances, and reduce the strain on natural resources. Moreover, recycling e-waste helps curb the emission of greenhouse gases and supports the circular economy. It is vital for individuals, businesses, and governments to promote and participate in e-waste recycling to protect our planet for future generations.
The electronic recycling event is open to all Williston and neighboring residents!
