As Halloween approaches, you will hear about some recent ghost hunting in the area. There indeed was a ghost hunt recently at the James Memorial Art Center in Williston earlier this summer by Paranormal Investigators of North Dakota. The results of their investigation will be revealed during a special event at the James called "A Night With Poe" on Saturday, October 29 at 8:00pm. Another hunt by Paranormal Investigators of North Dakota will be at the Hotel Albert in Fairview on Saturday, November 12.

Recent Ghost Hunting Places

With all this talk of ghosts, I thought this might be a good time to tell you about our "permanent resident" here at the radio station.

Back in 2015 our station's General Manager, Larry Timpe, received a phone call from the Trenton High School. The call he took was a request for the senior class to come and hunt ghosts in our radio station. As the discussion continued, Larry asked how did our building even come up in conversation. The advisor said it was for a debate project the students were participating in. The debate topic was are there ghosts? The question was asked...where do we go to hunt for a ghost. The Old Armory, The old Elks Club, The James Memorial Art Center? One student was talking to his mother at supper about it, and it turns out she is a former part time employee of ours. As he explained what he was working on to her, she said "if you want to check out a creepy place, you should go the radio station." So, the very next day he told his classmates, his teacher, and the call was made.

A few days passed, and a day and time was finally scheduled. Imagine the talk in the hallways of Trenton High School! "We are going to hunt ghosts at the radio station." I am sure there was some excitement, and even some indifferences

Now, imagine the talk in the hallways here at the radio station. That talk turned to conversations about some weird things that each of us saw and heard in this building. Everything from shadows moving through the hallways late at night. Phone chords swinging. Papers whooshing on a bulletin board, even hearing footsteps when there is not a soul around. Can there be a ghost in our building? It didn't take long to decide that we needed to let the kids come and investigate!

Townsquare Media Radio Station

When the big day arrived, Larry met the students and their advisor at the station at 9:00pm to get them inside and show them around. The students started setting up different sensors, some cameras, and even some recording equipment. After locking up our station cats, Larry wished the group happy hunting, and left for the night.

The group admitted that things were pretty boring for most of the time. That is until 3:00am rolled around. Meters started sounding, cameras were going off and recorders were recording! Did they get anything? As the evidence was collected, the students knew they had something!  They put their final report together, and it blew all our minds. These ghost hunters had three major pieces of evidence that could possibly prove that the radio station is indeed haunted!

Station Locations Where Whisper Was Heard

They had two video recordings of a strange noise near the basement stairs, and our main bathrooms. Now I know what you're thinking...it's a radio station. There are lots of noises! It's an old building that moans and creeks. But the sound they played was so out of place. It was something I have never heard before, and the only way to describe It was almost like a faint whisper of words. It sounded like something was saying "be quiet."

Hallway Where Apparition Was Spotted

The major piece in all of this was a picture that captured some sort of a shadowy figure peeking out the door at the students. In images captured before this one, the image in question was not there. The students said it was a silhouette shape of a head and shoulders. When I saw the actual picture, my heart stopped for a few seconds! So, as you look at the evidence for yourself, you have to ask yourself, is it time to call Ghostbusters?
