Hey there, fellow dog enthusiasts!

Mark your calendars because something amazing is coming your way! The 1st Annual Great Basin Dog Competition/Demo on April 23, 2024. It's going to be a tail-wagging good time, trust them!

What's this event all about? It's a fun-filled, family-friendly day celebrating the work of Police K-9 dogs and their handlers. We should all remember that the officers are still humans with everyday lives, and these K9 units are still dogs who love to hide their owners stuff in the yard in their free time.

Get ready to be amazed as K-9 teams from North Dakota and Montana show off their skills. From nailing apprehension techniques to flaunting their detection skills, these teams will leave you in awe.

Williston Police Officer Jason Jonas and his 6-year-old K-9 partner, Sisu, are eagerly anticipating the opportunity to showcase their skills. Having worked together for three years, they have developed a strong bond and are excited to share their expertise. Additionally, they have an exciting surprise prepared for the demonstration.

The competition is hosted by the North Dakota Law Enforcement Canine Association (NDLECA) and Mondak Animal Rescue (MDAR), it's all about showcasing the human-canine bond. Mondak Animal Rescue: These folks have been doing wonders for over 20 years, advocating tirelessly for our furry friends. North Dakota Law Enforcement Canine Association (NDLECA): With a mission to support K-9 handlers, these guys are the real deal!

NDLECA helps K9 dogs before, during, and after active duty. K9 units are, most of the time, the front line making sure everything is safe before human officers go into a hostile environment. NDLECA provides essential support and funding for various needs, including specialized vests tailored to different breeds, specific training programs for handlers and their K9 companions, and more.
Did you know that K9 units are the sole responsibility of the handler after they are not active duty? For example, if Sisu was injured in active duty and had to be taken off the force, the medical bills and care is soley on Officer Jonas. NDLECA has been formed to support K9 units and their handlers throughout the state during the duration of a K9 unit's life.

But hey, they need your help too! Your donations and sponsorships are what keep their tails wagging and their paws moving. Plus, they're totally tax-deductible! Sponsorship deadline for the 1st Annual Great Basin Dog Competition is Friday, April 5th.

Got questions or want to get involved? Hit them up: NDLECA: Lyle is your guy! Email him at ndk906@gmail.com or give him a call at 701-391-1650. MDAR: Shoot them an email at mondakanimalrescue@gmail.com or give them a call at 701-577-7387.

Even with all of these resources, however, the best cure for food poisoning is preventing it in the first place. To give you an idea of what human foods can be dangerous, Stacker has put together a slideshow of 30 common foods to avoid. Take a look to see if there are any that surprise you.
