Though many of us may not realize the disparities that exist in our own communities, people face hunger in every county and congressional district in North Dakota. They could be our neighbors, kids in our children's classes – the possibilities go on. According to Feeding America, in North Dakota, 36,130 people are facing hunger - and of them 14,490 are children.

Participating Menards Home Improvement Stores are serving as drop sites for non-perishable food donations to benefit local food pantries, through the month of March. There are boxes set up at the stores, along with a flyer showing the most-needed food items.

Williston's Menards Home Improvement Store is serving as a drop site for the local Salvation Army food pantry. They’re excited to participate in this wonderful opportunity while lending a helping hand to the community. Menards offers a wide variety of non-perishable food items that can be donated to the food pantry, from boxes of cereal to cans of soup that can be found in their grocery department for immediate donation.

The need for has gone up for food along with other items. You can donate through the end of the month. To participate, please place food in the donation box by the exit doors of the store. The food that is collected will benefit the many who experience food insecurity in the community.

The Williston Menards Store has the donation box set up near the check out lanes, just to the left of the exit/entry doors. The front of the box is decorated with pictures of needed food items. Items like honey, peanut butter and jelly, soups, canned tuna, fruits and vegetables, cereal, granola bars, seasonings and more.
