The Oldest And Most Historic Hotel In North Dakota Is Where?

If there's one thing I appreciate in life is HISTORY.

It was one of my favorite subjects back in school and if we can involve North Dakota into the equation all the more interesting.  I love the rich history of our state and I appreciate the many generations of North Dakotans who helped make it what it is today.

Yes, North Dakota is not for everyone.  I also think that's why many of us live here.

We like the wide open spaces of our prairies and being able to see as far as the eye can see.  We like to be able to go anywhere in our towns in 10 to 15 minutes (minus road construction season).  We appreciate caring neighbors, we reward hard-working individuals, and we embrace our North Dakota heritage.

A recent article caught my eye from Love Exploring on the Oldest Hotels In America.

North Dakota's oldest hotel is about an hour and forty-five minutes from Mandan.  Yep, it's only fitting that North Dakota's oldest hotel is in one of our most historic cities.  A town that has been drawing a lot of praise and recognition from out-of-state publications of late.

It's in none other than Medora.  Introducing the world-famous Rough Riders Hotel.

This hotel was built all the way back in 1884.  It was originally known as the Metropolitan Hotel.  The article talks about how guests will feel like they have been transported back to the days of the old West.

The Rough Riders Hotel decor includes all dark wood, tin-tiled ceilings, and plenty of books for you to browse through.  The brick fireplace in the Theodore's Dining Room is stunning.
