November 8, 2022 is Election Day. Granted, it's the mid-terms. This is still a big election! Why you ask? The midterm elections will change the makeup of Congress, significantly impacting how the incumbent president will be able to govern in the second half of their term. Control of the House and Senate can be decided by just a few seats. In 2022, the Senate is 50 Republicans, 48 Democrats, and 2 Independents who caucus with Democrats, plus Vice President Kamala Harris (also a Democrat) as the deciding vote in case of ties. The House currently has 222 Democrats, 211 Republicans, and 2 vacancies. If you don't like how things are going, VOTE! This is your right to make a choice and possibly some changes.

Here are a few things to know before you head to the polls.

Absentee Ballots

I plan to be gone on November 8, and chose to vote absentee. I went to the Auditor's Office located in the Williams County Administration Building. I was there 5 minutes, and had a ballot in hand. They know what they're doing, and were very helpful. Absentee ballots must be postmarked no later than 11/7 if returned by mail, and no later than 11/7 at 5 pm if returned via Drop Box or to the Auditor's Office Counter.
