The Medora Musical is getting ready for closing weekend September 8-September 10. Not only can you attend a performance of the Medora Musical, it's also the weekend of the Medora's Annual Hot Air Balloon Rally and Badlands Kite Festival.

Take a road trip to Medora to watch colorful hot air balloons and kites soar over the buttes of the Badlands. It's a great opportunity for amateur and professional photographers.

At 6:30am on Saturday and Sunday the Hot Air Balloons will launch from the Medora Campground. Bring your camera to capture the magic from on the ground at the campground or from a birds-eye view on top of Cemetery Butte.

For the Badlands Kite Festival, the Kite Flyers will be located at the top of the Burning Hills Amphitheatre — just look for the beautiful kites! Try your hand at flying a kite on Friday from 2:00 pm – 4:00 pm weather permitting. Saturday and Sunday from 10:00 am – 4:00 pm weather permitting. People bringing their own kites will have to steer clear of the kites already in the air.

The Medora musical may be ending for the year, but Medora is open year round. And there is still opportunity to see a show. The Million Dollar Quartet is September 14- October 29. Performances will be in the Old Town Hall Theater in Medora.

The Million Dollar Quartet—an impromptu jam session at Sam Phillips's Sun Records with Jerry Lee Lewis, Carl Perkins, Elvis Presley, and Johnny Cash on December 4, 1956. The recording was released in 1981, and became the subject of a Broadway musical in 2010.

The show is based on the Tony Award-winning Broadway musical, a recreation of that December night in Memphis, when Sam Phillips kept the tape rolling in his storefront studio. It was the first and only time those four talents would sing together.

The Million Dollar Quartet cast includes:

Alex Swindel as Elvis Presley. Alex is a singer, musician and 2015 Ultimate Elvis Top Ten World Finalist from Birmingham, Alabama. He has performed as an Elvis tribute artist for 12 years and is excited to show his talents on the stage in Medora.

Brandon Fillette as Jerry Lee Lewis. Brandon is thrilled to be returning to Medora, ND (2017 & 2018 Medora Musical). Brandon has done multiple productions as Jerry Lee Lewis including two national tours.

Matt McClure as Carl Perkins. This will be his sixth time portraying the Father of Rockabilly.

Tyler Michael Breeding as Johnny Cash. Tyler is a sing/actor/musician who has appeared on stages all around the country and cruise ships around the world.

Luke Hodgson plays Sam Phillips. Luke is an actor and singer currently based in New York.
